A consultation will take place prior to booking a CO2 or Erbium laser. During this time, treatment options will be discussed based on skin concerns. If laser resurfacing is part of the decided treatment plan, you will be given skincare products to help prep your skin so that you get optimal results after treatment. This will also help promote healing after your procedure and enhance the cosmetic results. Prior to any laser resurfacing, you will need to avoid the sun for a minimum of 2 weeks.

The treatment time varies depending on the location being treated. In most cases, plan to be at the office for 1-2 hours, you will lay under an LED light for 20 minutes after your laser procedure to help decrease healing time.

There is discomfort associated with CO2 laser therapy. However, topical numbing is applied 60 minutes prior to treatment with other pain reduction modalities available as needed.

Numbing is not included in your appointment time, so please be sure to get a Numbing Pod and instructions at least 24 hours before your appointment, or plan to arrive 1 full hour before your scheduled appointment time.

Many patients require 1-3 laser resurfacing treatments based on setting used, downtime they can afford, and desired results. However, some individuals with deeper creases or scars may require additional treatments.

After the skin has healed, patients will notice a slightly pink hue on their skin for 4-6 weeks. You will observe an improvement in skin texture and tone during this time. After three months, full effects should be seen when the skin has fully recovered.

CO2 laser treatments have downtime that varies depending on the laser settings and treatment goals. Your skin will scab and peel for 2-7 days after treatment and turn pink for 3-4 weeks afterward. The specific length of time it takes to heal will vary from person to person.

This will be discussed in your comprehensive consultation with a skilled provider. CO2 laser is contraindicated for darker skin types (V-VI on the Fitzpatrick scale), impaired immune systems, recent use of Accutane (<6 months), active acne, pregnancy, or bacterial or viral infection.

It is required prior to booking any ‘Halo,’ CO2, Pico, or ablative resurfacing lasers so that you have appropriate skincare to take home and use before your appointment. A $200 booking fee for this session will go towards any procedures booked within 30 days. You will leave this appointment with a copy of your photos and treatment plan. Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete all necessary paperwork so that you can spend your entire 40 minutes with your provider.

Erbium Skin Resurfacing

Erbium laser resurfacing removes surface-level and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck, or chest. This laser is especially good for targeting active and inflamed acne without affecting surrounding tissue.
